Coupang Play series Newtopia has released Park Jeong Min‘s character stills, who transforms into soldier Lee Jae Yun in the K-drama.
Newtopia tells the story of soldier Lee Jae Yun (Park Jeong Min) and Kang Yeong Ju (Kim Ji Soo) as they navigate a zombie-infested Seoul, desperately trying to reunite.
Versatile actor Park Jeong Min takes on his first zombie production as soldier Jae Yun. The stills show Jae Yun, who is serving in an air defense unit in a high-rise tower in Seoul, talking on the phone with Yeong Ju (Ji Soo), making a puzzled expression as if facing a serious crisis, and aiming a gun at someone.
The stills raise curiosity about whether soldier Jae Yun, who endured his military life by talking to Yeong Ju, will be able to reunite with her in a world where zombies run rampant.
Director Yoon Sung Hyun said, “I imagined Jae Yun as someone who matures and grows as he tries to reach Yeong Ju, and actor Park Jeong Min naturally came to mind [for the role],” raising expectations for Park Jeong Min’s performance, who he considers as a perfect fit for the character.
Park Jeong Min, who has established himself as a skilled actor, is drawing attention to how he will portray a character who becomes stronger in a world thrown into turmoil by the zombie virus.
Newtopia will premiere on February 7. The K-drama will be available to stream on Prime Video.
