Upcoming horror K-movie Dark Nuns has unveiled its new teaser and held a press conference on December 16.
Dark Nuns follows the story of people who engage in a forbidden ritual to save a boy possessed by a powerful evil spirit. It is the second installment of The Priests.
The newly released teaser begins with the sound of bells echoing across the backdrop of a city deep in the night, followed by scenes of Sister Junia (Song Hye Kyo) heading somewhere, and Sister Michaela (Jeon Yeo Been) preparing for a ritual.
The text, “The forbidden ritual begins,” hints at the nuns, who are ineligible to perform exorcisms under Catholic doctrine and tradition because they are not ordained, stepping forward in the absence of an exorcist who can confront the Twelve Forms.
Adding to the anticipation are well-known actors Lee Jin Wook as Father Paolo, who opposes exorcism and believes the boy can be saved through medical means, and Moon Woo Jin as Hee Joon, the boy possessed by a powerful evil spirit.
At the K-movie’s press conference, held on December 16, Jeon Yeo Been shared her thoughts on portraying Michaela, saying, “I thought the most important thing was the reaction. The energy I receive from Junia (played by Song Hye Kyo) and the inspiration from the setting were expressed through the look in my eyes, trembling, and tension. I tried to observe the situation closely, and what gave me the most strength was the gaze of Hye Kyo sunbae.” Song Hye Kyo smiled warmly at Jeon Yeo Been’s remarks.
Jeon also mentioned, “I grew up watching Song Hye Kyo’s acting when I was a student,” to which Song playfully responded, “Don’t say things like that.”
Song Hye Kyo expressed her enthusiasm, saying, “I was so happy when I heard Jeon Yeo Been was cast. Personally, I’ve always wanted to work with her. Many actors I’m close to are also close with Yeo Been, so I had already heard a lot about her.”
Song Hye Kyo continued, “I had always heard good things about Jeon Yeo Been, but working with her on set, I realized she is even better than what I had heard. She said I was a source of strength for her, but, I gained even more strength from her.”
She continued, “Michaela (played by Jeon Yeo Been) is my ‘savior.’ Without Michaela, Junia (played by Song Hye Kyo) wouldn’t have been able to do it alone.”
Dark Nuns is set to premiere in theaters on January 24, 2025. Watch the teaser here.
