Ryeoun was sent to an idol training agency at a young age in The Starry Night

The Starry Night unveiled Ryeoun‘s stills.

The Starry Night follows Kang Su Hyun (Go Hyun Jung), a star producer, who has been fired from her job, and Yoo Jin Woo (Ryeoun), who has been an idol trainee for 10 years and carries life’s burdens on his shoulders.

Twinkling Watermelon star Ryeoun plays the role of Yoo Jin Woo, a long-term trainee at Pandora Entertainment who is striving to debut as an idol. Talented in music, he was sent to an agency at a young age, as if sold, by his parents. Being tossed around by harsh realities (of the industry and life), Yoo Jin Woo’s heart constantly wavers like ocean waves, as he struggles to survive.

As he repeatedly fails to make it to the debut group, his dream of becoming a star begins to fade away. He is then released from the agency, the only safety net he had. With nowhere to go, no guardian, and no confidence in himself, all eyes are on whether Yoo Jin Woo can survive the harsh world.

Actor Ryeoun shared, “Before my debut, I was also in a situation where I fiercely pursued my dream, one step at a time. So I felt that I could express the internal self of Yoo Jin Woo well.”

He continued, “My first impression of Yoo Jin Woo was that he is a kid who could be easily swept up and shattered by the waves at any moment. But while filming, I realized that this character, like any high school student, has the same dream and just wants to live a happy life.” He added, “I focused on portraying how the kid, who was once satisfied with just living, gradually begins to change.”

The Starry Night will premiere on December 23. More news about the K-drama’s global OTT platform is yet to come.
