New suspense C-drama ‘Under the Moonlight’ announces premiere date

The historical suspense Chinese drama Under the Moonlight has confirmed its premiere date for January 14. 

Under the Moonlight follows Luo Shu, who courageously rescues herself despite being trapped in life’s quagmire. 

As a young girl, Luo Shu (Hu Bing Qing) had it tough after her family went broke. To change her life, she volunteered to assist the new county magistrate, Han Mu Zhi (He Peng), in solving a major case. From then on, she temporarily stayed in the county office as a constable. During this time, she meets Qi Meng Lin (Zhai Zi Lu), a young nobleman who wants to make a name in the martial world. Luo Shu is good at solving bizarre cases and joins hands with Meng Lin to tackle them. Many of the cases they encounter involve women. As ten notorious murder cases take place one after another, including the gruesome “Headless Woman Case”, the eerie “Fenhe River Corpse Case”, and the treacherous “Winery Murder Case”, Luo Shu and Qi Meng Lin do everything to bring justice to the helpless women involved. However, a bigger conspiracy begins to unfold.

The Chinese drama is set in the Ming Dynasty. Under the Moonlight has ten story units, each based on folk legends or anecdotal tales. These stories center on ordinary people and their stories.

Among the characters, some were slandered by rumors, some lost their way, and others met tragic ends. With each intricate case and the fates of the characters, the audience is drawn into an immersive experience of complex and perplexing mysteries. 

The series presents a vivid tapestry of the lives of ordinary people, gradually unveiling the intricacies of human nature and the myriad facets of Ming Dynasty society.
