Kim Sung Kyun returns as the quirky Koo Dae Yeong in The Fiery Priest Season 2

The Fiery Priest Season 2 has revealed the first look of Detective Koo Dae Yeong (Kim Sung Kyun), who transforms into a hero of justice.

The Fiery Priest Season 2 is a comic investigation drama that follows hot-blooded, justice-driven priest Kim Hae Il (Kim Nam Gil) as he heads to Busan to battle against the nation’s biggest drug cartel.

In the K-drama, Koo Dae Yeong (Kim Sung Kyun) will assist Kim Hae Il more thoroughly than in Season 1.

Having been promoted to the team leader of the Gangnam Police Department’s Violent Crimes Unit, Koo Dae Yeong showcases his “work-life balance team leader” persona during the day by diligently communicating with junior officers and efficiently solving cases.

However, at night, he transforms into the night guy, going undercover in the middle of the night to take down evil forces.

Kim Sung Kyun says, “I am grateful to meet fans again in Season 2 after receiving so much love in Season 1.” He added, “In Season 1, Detective Koo Dae Yeong overcame his trauma due to the influence of Father Kim Hae Il and became the brave and spirited detective he once was. In Season 2, he becomes a strong ally for Father Kim Hae Il, with his further enhanced combat prowess. I believe you can look forward to Detective Koo Dae Yeong’s action scenes.”

Kim Sung Kyun stated, “I had such a fun time filming with my friendly colleagues, so I didn’t feel the gap of five years at all.” He expressed gratitude to viewers, saying, “Thank you for waiting for The Fiery Priest Season 2. We will repay you with an entertaining production for the time you’ve waited.”

The production team described Kim Sung Kyun as “a gem of an actor who amplifies the character’s charm with his solid acting skills,” and added, “Please pay attention to Koo Dae Yeon as he delivers a powerful blow as the ‘night guy’ who catches bad guys.”

The Fiery Priest Season 2 is scheduled to premiere on November 8. The K-drama will be available to stream on Disney+.
