The first highly anticipated K-drama of Disney+’s stellar 2025 lineup, Unmasked, has been confirmed for release on January 15.
Unmasked tells the story of relentless investigative journalists who take on bad guys by shoving a camera in their faces first and asking questions later.
The teaser poster grabs attention with a striking pose of Kim Hye Soo holding a camera amid a spectacular, action-movie-like crime scene. Her pose, like she’s aiming a gun, and her gaze highlights her character Oh So Ryong’s — the team leader of the investigative journalism program Trigger, known for grabbing bad guys by the collar — charisma.
The tagline, “Infiltrate enemy lines! We’ll capture every last shot!” stirs curiosity about Oh So Ryong’s fearless endeavors to expose the wrongdoers, even amidst the chaos of non-stop incidents and accidents at reporting scenes.
The teaser heightens anticipation with its vibrant atmosphere and the eccentric, dynamic characters bursting with grit and determination. Among them, team leader Oh So Ryong, who lives as if there’s no tomorrow, commands attention with her dominating presence and quirky, unexpected actions.
From paragliding through the sky to cover major criminal cases, to being thrown out of a police station, and yelling while wielding a fire extinguisher at a chaotic accident scene, Oh So Ryong’s audacious style overlaps perfectly with the line delivered by the rookie Han Do (Jung Sung Il): “The way she works is a bit masochistic.”
With her boisterous laughter and determination to use any means necessary to uncover the truth, Oh So Ryong’s tumultuous journey promises a gripping “fact-smashing” story of taking down the bad guys.
Then there is Han Do, a polite yet rude rookie who parachuted his way into the Trigger team, joining it unintentionally.
Joo Jong Hyuk portrays Kang Ki Ho, the assistant director with overflowing enthusiasm. His unshakable trust and loyalty to Oh So Ryong shine through.
Unmasked is set to premiere exclusively on Disney+ on January 15, 2025, and will release a total of 12 episodes, with two episodes airing per week. Watch the teaser here.
