The Tale of Lady Ok tells the story of Ok Tae Young (Im Ji Yeon), a woman whose name, status, and husband are all fake. After leaving behind a life of enslavement, where she endured extreme humiliation, she embarks on a life of deception in the hopes of living peacefully and with dignity.
The highlight video captivates viewers with the grueling journey of runaway slave Gu Deok (Im Ji Yeon) who becomes the fake Ok Tae Young. After facing a life-threatening crisis, Gu Deok awakens in the warm hospitality of those who mistake her for the real Ok Tae Young. Leaving her past behind, she is reborn as a respected noblewoman of a noble family.
Gu Deok, now living as the fake Ok Tae Young, steps forward for those who are mistreated and denied basic human dignity because of their low status. She fights fiercely to ensure not only her own right to live as a respected human being but also to help others achieve the same.
Adding to the intrigue is the connection between Gu Deok and Cheon Seung Hwi (Choo Young Woo), a storyteller who has captivated many with his dazzling performances. One scene shows Seung Hwi recognizing Gu Deok amidst a sea of spectators, with the fake Ok Tae Young fighting back tears.
The teaser next shows Ok Tae Yeong / Gu Deok surrounded by a crisis. A dark shadow looms over her household and threatens her from all sides. Yet, Ok Tae Young refuses to back down, standing firm to protect what she must.
Ok Tae Young’s courage, who refuses to give up and pushes forward, is further bolstered by the efforts of those who choose to help her. When asked her name, she resolutely replies, “My name is Ok Tae Young,” revealing her unyielding determination to live life on her own terms, despite being born into the status of a slave.
