Hwang Min Hyun‘s upcoming K-drama Study Group dropped fresh teasers.
Study Group is a high-school-themed action comedy that follows Yoon Ga Min (Hwang Min Hyun), who dreams of excelling academically but is only gifted in fighting. Joining the worst school, he dives into the bloody world of competitive exams, forming a study group along the way.
The series promises catharsis with its blend of thrilling action, the growth of Yoon Ga Min — who chooses to fight to study — and the heartfelt stories of students striving to protect the group despite their own struggles.
The newly revealed poster features Yoon Ga Min delivering a punch amidst flying pencils. Beneath his gentle demeanor and nerdy appearance is an incredibly strong young man whose punches can knock down even those double his size. His piercing gaze behind thick glasses and the text, “Found it! The gaze for studying,” sparks curiosity about his journey to form a study group.
With high hopes, Yoon Ga Min enters Yuseong Technical High School, only to be greeted by chaos straight out of an action movie. In a school rife with fierce hierarchy battles, his struggle to focus on studying proves to be anything but easy. His call, “Those who want to study, assemble!” in his study group recruitment poster attracts not eager students but troublemakers looking for a fight. To pursue his dream of studying, Yoon Ga Min breaks the seal on his hidden strength and, unintentionally, starts conquering Yuseong High.
Adding to the intrigue are Lee Han Gyeong (Han Ji Eun), a dependable temporary teacher who supports Yoon Ga Min, and Kim Se Hyun (Lee Jong Hyun), the first recruit he sees as having the “gaze for studying.”
Study Group is set to premiere on January 23. News about the K-drama’s global OTT platform is yet to come. Watch the teaser here.
