Joo Ji-hoon and Jung Yumi learn to Love Your Enemy

A new love story on tvN will soon be sweeping us off our feet, kick-starting promos with stills from the first script reading, where Joo Ji-hoon (Blood Free) re-romances Jung Yumi (The School Nurse Files) in Love Your Enemy (previously Meeting Love on a Log Bridge).

At the young age of eighteen, our two leads were madly in love and it seemed like destiny was on their side with both sharing the same birthday as well as the same first name: Seok Ji-won (Joo Ji-hoon) and Yoon Ji-won (Jung Yumi) respectively. But alas, what’s in a name and would either Ji-won be less sweet were they not a Seok or Yoon? And though it wasn’t death or a Truck of Doom (as far as we know) that parted them, their warring families did lead them to a devastating break-up. The drama then fast forwards to 18 years later when Seok Ji-won is appointed as the new director of Dokmok High School, where Yoon Ji-won just so happens to be the PE teacher.

Although we don’t yet know what sparked the fiery feud between the Seok’s and Yoon’s, we’re told that it spans three generations. And the current crossfires seem to center around Yoon Ji-won’s grandfather – the former director of Dokmok High School – Kim Gab-soo (Queen of Tears) and Seok Ji-won’s father, Chairman Lee Byung-joon (My Sweet Mobster). However, as this is a rom-com, hopefully a peace treaty will soon be put in place and the story can focus on all the swoony goodness that comes with Ji-won x Ji-won finding love again.

I imagine Kim Ye-won (Call It Love) would also appreciate seeing a happy reconciliation between her two childhood friends. But Seok Ji-won will have some competition with student teacher Lee Shi-woo (Perfect Family) crushing on Yoon Ji-won. Rounding out the community at Dokmok High School, the cast also includes math teacher Jeon Hye-jin (Soundtrack #2) and school administrator Lee Seung-joon (Love Next Door) among other supporting characters.

Directed by PD Park Joon-hwa (Alchemy of Souls, What’s Wrong With Secretary Kim) with scripts by Im Ye-jin (The Tale of Nokdu, Moonlight Drawn By Clouds), tvN’s Love Your Enemy will be premiering on November 23, following Jeongnyeon – The Star Is Born in the weekend slot.
